Business Case / Need
JaxDnB had long been active on social media, but lacked a central home for evergreen content and brand credibility. Social channels were effective for promoting events in the moment; unfortunately, they lacked a space for more lasting content like artist profiles, community news, and telling our story. The website was created to fill that gap — a professional hub for event information, artist promotion, and the growing drum and bass community in Jacksonville.
My Role
I was both project manager and sole producer, responsible for the information architecture, content strategy, copywriting, website setup, and launch. To support the desired functionality I configured plugins for events, e-commerce, and newsletter subscribers, and optimized the site for SEO. This was a hands-on build where I carried the full lifecycle from planning to execution..
Project Approach
I scoped the MVP to focus on essentials: a homepage, an event calendar, an About/History page, a newsletter signup, and a small set of artist profiles. The home page needed to convey a sense of fun and inclusion, introduce the community, and build credibility. Most photography came from photographers who were hired for events and from artists’ press kits, while I handled all design and production.
After the launch, I iteratively expanded the site with a news section and additional artist profiles. A few months later after researching various print-on-demand vendors, I added a WooCommerce merch store integrated with Printify which offers an easy solution for automated order fulfillment. Currently I am expanding the artist bio pages into a more robust EPK (electronic press kit) format.
