Project: AB Network Website for Sales and Marketing

Business Case / Need

AB Network’s existing website had become outdated and difficult to maintain. The company needed a new site that not only reflected recent branding refinements but also served as a professional sales and marketing tool. Their goal was to clearly communicate both product and service features and benefits, elevating the site from a basic online presence to a persuasive tool for their national customer base.

My Role

I served as Project Manager, leading both internal production and client engagement. This included facilitating kickoff and design reviews, guiding the feedback and revision process, and coordinating across design, development, QA, and traffic management teams. I also contributed to the information architecture, and when the site launched, I delivered client training to ensure their team could confidently manage the new WordPress platform.

Project Approach

We followed a phased, waterfall-style process: kickoff and asset collection, wireframes, high-fidelity design, development, QA, and launch. My role centered on keeping milestones on track, balancing client expectations, and ensuring clear communication between stakeholders. A key focus of our approach was to align design execution with the client’s strategic need for a professional, sales-oriented site. Since AB Network’s headquarters is located in the same city as ours, we coordinated to hold key strategic meetings at their office which gave us more intimate opportunities to ideate, educate, and collect their feedback.

Information Architecture

The site’s content structure was refined but not fully overhauled. The most notable new feature was an interactive dealership showroom floorplan. This feature allowed users to click or tap key areas of a dealership to reveal product solutions tied to that space. To support it, I oversaw discovery and research that led us to a robust WordPress plugin solution called Image Map Pro. Beyond the interactive element, the site included informational product sections, customer support pages, and resource materials — all structured for clarity and ease of use.

Risks and Challenges

  • Interactive feature risk: The floorplan functionality was not originally scoped; the idea came out during our initial design consultations. It required additional research mid-project, with potential to affect budget and timeline. We agreed to trade-offs which allowed us to build out the requested feature, with the client owning responsibility for the additional cost of the third-party application.
  • High client expectations: As a local but nationally operating business, AB Network had strong expectations for delivery speed and quality. We committed to an aggressive schedule to demonstrate value and accelerate ROI.

Results / Outcomes

The new WordPress site delivered a modernized look, simplified maintenance, and elevated user engagement. The interactive showroom floorplan provided a standout experience that tied digital marketing directly to real-world dealership environments. Importantly, the project stayed within scope and budget despite the new feature requirement.

The client responded positively, expressing satisfaction with both the process and the finished product. The site remains live today — over six years later — a testament to its durability and the effectiveness of the solution we implemented.

Interactive Module Showcases Product Benefits

Leveraging the capabilities of Image Map Pro, we used the client’s custom graphic of a sample dealership floor plan to create interactive touch points which reveal AB Network solutions using benefit-oriented language.

Additional Trust Factors Help Sell the Product

We designed and developed additional interactive elements to introduce “how it works” content and additional trust factors. The look and feel combine a hi-tech feel with the business’s streamlined and modern branding.
